Inspection guide

How to inspect a media file in your browser

Read basic file, duration and video dimensions locally before choosing another media operation.

What the browser can inspect

Media Information reads file type, size, duration and video dimensions through browser media APIs without uploading the file.

Inspect a file

  1. Choose a local media file.
  2. Wait for metadata to load.
  3. Review its type, duration and dimensions.
  4. Choose another tool only after confirming the source.

Why information may be unavailable

  • The container or codec is unsupported.
  • The file is incomplete, encrypted or damaged.
  • Audio-only files have no video dimensions.
  • Lightweight inspection does not enumerate every track.
